    Treatment

Title:    the Boy and the Monkey        Length: 1-2 minutes
Writers: Amber Playle,  Wei Wang    Date: Oct. 31, 2012

The goal of the Boy and the Monkey is to use assemblage art of kitchen and metal objects to create a stop motion film.  The use of stylized ninja animation within the stop motion will help convey the overall style of the film.
The theme of the story is about forgiveness and friendship between two metal characters.

    Concept:
The story will follow that of a classical narrative starting in a low to mid intensity stasis, quickly broken to into a building tension to the climax, and finally a return to stasis.

The story begins with the boy sitting under a tree about to eat his lunch.
The feel of the piece is like a warm summer day. very neutral tones a hint of green.

A monkey then comes and steal the food, taking off into the forest.
As we transition into the forest the scene takes on more of a dark blue tone.

A fast paced chase sequence ensues as the boy chases the monkey through the forest. The tension of the sequence builds until the Monkey trips and falls over the cliff, dropping the food.
Quick shot transitions along with exaggerated animation define the sequence through the forest. As the cliff is introduced the scene becomes more desaturated introducing more gray tones into the setting.

The monkey manages to catch a hold of the cliff edge and hangs on.
The boy sees the monkey in distress and rescues him.
These scenes are very high tension as they are the climax of the story.

After the rescue, both characters are sitting on the cliff edge staring out over the abyss.
As the scene progresses the sun breaks through the clouds in a distance, introducing more warm pink tones into the image as we transition out of the gray.

    ending option 1:
They monkey looks and sees a mechanical apple sitting on the ground and picks it up.
As the monkey offers the apple to the boy the boy forgives the monkey and accepts the apple.
The scene continues to warm up as the apple is offered and accepted until we are in

    ending option 1:
We cut back to the first shot but now both characters are sitting under a tree. The boy and the monkey are sharing a pile of apples between them, having become friends.
The scene is a warm scene much like the first one but with a hint of pink as well.
